To get a better grasp of the available database certifications, it’s useful to group these certs around job responsibilities. In part, this reflects the maturity of database technology and its integration into most aspects of commercial, scientific and academic computing. As you read about the various database certification programs, keep these job roles in mind: 

  • Database administrator (DBA): Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining a database management system (DBMS). Often tied to a specific platform such as Oracle, MySQL, DB2 or SQL Server.

3. Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5.7 Database Administrator 

Oracle runs its certifications under the auspices of Oracle University. The Oracle Database Certifications page lists separate tracks for Database Application Development (SQL and PL/SQL), MySQL (Database Administration and Developer) and Oracle Database (versions 12c, 12c R2, and 11g, and Oracle Spatial 11g). 

MySQL is perhaps the leading open-source relational database management system (RDBMS). Since acquiring Sun Microsystems in 2010 (which had previously acquired MySQL AB), Oracle has rolled out a paid version of MySQL and developed certifications to support the product. 

A candidate interested in pursuing an Oracle MySQL certification can choose between MySQL Database Administration and MySQL Developer. The Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5.7 Database Administrator (OCP) credential recognizes professionals who can install, optimize and monitor MySQL Server; configure replication; apply security; and schedule and validate database backups. 

The certification requires candidates to pass a single exam (the same exam can be taken to upgrade a prior certification). Oracle recommends training and on-the-job experience before taking the exam.

4. Oracle Database 12c Administrator

Most Oracle DBMS credentials require candidates to attend authorized training classes to qualify for the related exam, but MySQL (and Sun-derived) credentials often do not. The Veterans Health Administration's rollout of its Oracle-Cerner EHR system will not continue until patient safety concerns are addressed, according to Sept. 26 reporting in FedScoop.

VA Secretary Denis McDonough confirmed the news Sept. 26, responding to questions at an event hosted by the Defense Writers Group. Mr. McDonough confirmed that the VA is working through an implementation checklist with each hospital setting up the new EHR system.

The rollout was paused in June after a federal watchdog alleged that a flaw in Cerner's system caused harm to 148 veterans at Spokane, Wash.-based Mann-Grandstaff Medical Center.

"I think we've been clear that we have to be confident that these risks to patient safety are addressed before we go live. So we're not just focused on the passage of time between now and next year; we're focused on improving the system," Mr. McDonough said.

What Is the American Families Plan?

In a speech about the American Jobs Plan that speaks to these ideas, President Biden said: "It’s time to build our economy from the bottom up and from the middle out, not the top down." The American Families plan emphasizes "making it easier for American families to "break into the middle class and easier to stay in the middle class."

Education. The details of the American Families Plan published by the administration on April 28 2021 include funding for expanding education in order to build up the workforce, especially $109 billion for free community college (which would also be available for those in the country under the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAM)), an additional investment of approximately $85 billion in Pell Grants, and $200 billion for prekindergarten for all three and four-year-olds.

The funding for these infrastructure programs also represents a move away from the previous Trump administration, whose 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act slashed corporate taxes and lowered individual taxes, as well as greatly increasing the estate tax exemption.

Many experts have warned the U.S. may be headed toward recession following reports the economy contracted 1.6% in the first quarter of the year. More recent projections indicating the economy’s seasonally-adjusted annual rate could grow by 2.7% in the third quarter also assuaged some inflation fears. Orion Advisor Solutions chief investment officer Tim Holland told Forbes, “we have a hard time believing the economy is in recession today.”

Killexams : Kwara trains planning officers on implementation of 10-year Development Plan

Kwara State Government has began a week-long training for dozens of its planning officers across various ministries, departments and agencies on the implementation of its 10-year Development Plan (SDP 2021-2030).

The capacity building workshop was organized by the State Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, attended by 120 planning officers, and directors of personnel, finance and supply in key Ministries.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had in December 2021 launched the long-term Development Plan that covers a period of ten years to place Kwara on the path of sustainable growth and economic prosperity.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Planning,  Alhaji Yaqub Umar Jaja, said the  programme sought to put the officers on their toes towards achieving the set targets.

He said the government took that step in line with the instructions of the National Council on Development Plan (NCDP) and the Joint Planning Board, which encourage all States to formulate a plan that will serve as a roadmap for development indicators.

“The previous administrations in the State made attempts to articulate a Development Plan but were not successful. But with the sincere efforts and determination of this government it became a reality. This is indeed a novel achievement,” he said.

“This achievement has placed Kwara as one of the few states to launch the Long Term Development Plan, which serves as a roadmap and compass for development indicators.”

With the launch of the  Long Term Development Plan in the State last year by AbdulRazaq, Kwara happens to be one of the few states that have taken the economic plan with all seriousness, Jaja said.

“The current global economic volatility demands a Long Term Development Plan that spells out resource-gap, resource endowment, goals and objectives, aspirations, targets of the society, strategies of implementations to achieve set targets as well as programmes and projects,” he said.

“The unveiling of the Long Term Development Plan for Kwara State in December 2021 is therefore a good legacy for this administration to bequeath to the good people of the state for the period of 2021-2030.”

Jaja thanked the Governor for approving funds to equip the officers with necessary expertise and for other enablers being put in place by the State government.

He also appreciated the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed for collaborating with Kwara to train the officers, asking the participants to be attentive and make judicious use of whatever they acquire.

The training was equally attended by dignitaries from within and outside the State, including a deputy Director in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Kenneth Kwujeli; the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Finance, Alhaji AbdulRasaq Folohunsho, among others principal officers of the host Ministry.

Folohunsho described effective planning as a panacea to the development of any society, and assured the Ministry of Planning of his organization’s continued support to enable the State achieve the objectives.

Kenneth, in his lecture, defined sustainable development as an arrangement to meet the needs of the present generation without denying the future generation the chances of meeting their needs.

Kenneth, who spoke on a theme “Developing a Medium Term Plan: Structure of Chapters and Guidelines for Development”, said it was imperative for planning officers to be fully involved in the implementation of such a sustainable development plan.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has registered protest against the reported move to make Hindi the only medium of language for competitive examinations for various posts in the Central government. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that question papers should be given in all languages specified in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

“Our youth has limited job opportunities in the government sector and any attempt to put a substantial section of them at a relative disadvantage will not be in the best interest of our society. Job-seekers and students of our country have serious apprehension in this regard,” he said.

The CM requested that no language may be preferred as a medium of instruction over other languages, “lest it should be seen as an imposition”.
