Question: 12
A company runs an application on Amazon EC2 instances. The company uses a series of AWS CloudFormation stacks
to define the application resources. A developer performs updates by building and testing the application on a laptop
and then uploading the build output and CloudFormation stack templates to Amazon S3. The developer's peers review
the changes before the developer performs the CloudFormation stack update and installs a new version of the
application onto the EC2 instances.
The deployment process is prone to errors and is time-consuming when the developer updates each EC2 instance with
the new application. The company wants to automate as much of the application deployment process as possible while
retaining a final manual approval step before the modification of the application or resources.
The company already has moved the source code for the application and the CloudFormation templates to AWS
CodeCommit. The company also has created an AWS CodeBuild project to build and test the application.
Which combination of steps will meet the companyâs requirements? (Choose two.)
A. Create an application group and a deployment group in AWS CodeDeploy. Install the CodeDeploy agent on the
EC2 instances.
B. Create an application revision and a deployment group in AWS CodeDeploy. Create an environment in
CodeDeploy. Register the EC2 instances to the CodeDeploy environment.
C. Use AWS CodePipeline to invoke the CodeBuild job, run the CloudFormation update, and pause for a manual
approval step. After approval, start the AWS CodeDeploy deployment.
D. Use AWS CodePipeline to invoke the CodeBuild job, create CloudFormation change sets for each of the
application stacks, and pause for a manual approval step. After approval, run the CloudFormation change sets and start
the AWS CodeDeploy deployment.
E. Use AWS CodePipeline to invoke the CodeBuild job, create CloudFormation change sets for each of the application
stacks, and pause for a manual approval step. After approval, start the AWS CodeDeploy deployment.

Question: 19
A company is hosting a web application in an AWS Region. For disaster recovery purposes, a second region is being
used as a standby. Disaster recovery requirements state that session data must be replicated between regions in near-
real time and 1% of requests should route to the secondary region to continuously verify system functionality.
Additionally, if there is a disruption in service in the main region, traffic should be automatically routed to the
secondary region, and the secondary region must be able to scale up to handle all traffic.
How should a DevOps engineer meet these requirements?
A. In both regions, deploy the application on AWS Elastic Beanstalk and use Amazon DynamoDB global tables for
session data. Use an Amazon Route 53 weighted routing policy with health checks to distribute the traffic across the
regions.
B. In both regions, launch the application in Auto Scaling groups and use DynamoDB for session data. Use a Route 53
failover routing policy with health checks to distribute the traffic across the regions.
C. In both regions, deploy the application in AWS Lambda, exposed by Amazon API Gateway, and use Amazon RDS
for PostgreSQL with cross-region replication for session data. Deploy the web application with client-side logic to call
the API Gateway directly.
D. In both regions, launch the application in Auto Scaling groups and use DynamoDB global tables for session data.
Enable an Amazon CloudFront weighted distribution across regions. Point the Amazon Route 53 DNS record at the
CloudFront distribution.

A company has multiple accounts in an organization in AWS Organizations. The company's SecOps team needs to
receive an Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS) notification if any account in the organization turns off
the Block Public Access feature on an Amazon S3 bucket. A DevOps engineer must implement this change without
affecting the operation of any AWS accounts. The implementation must ensure that individual member accounts in the
organization cannot turn off the notification.
Which solution will meet these requirements?
A. Designate an account to be the delegated Amazon GuardDuty administrator account. Turn on GuardDuty for all
accounts across the organization. In the GuardDuty administrator account, create an SNS topic. Subscribe the SecOps
team's email address to the SNS topic. In the same account, create an Amazon EventBridge rule that uses an event
pattern for GuardDuty findings and a target of the SNS topic.
B. Create an AWS CloudFormation template that creates an SNS course and subscribes the SecOps teamâs email
address to the SNS topic. In the template, include an Amazon EventBridge rule that uses an event pattern of
CloudTrail activity for
s3:PutBucketPublicAccessBlock and a target of the SNS topic. Deploy the stack to every account in the organization
by using CloudFormation StackSets.
C. Turn on AWS Config across the organization. In the delegated administrator account, create an SNS topic.
Subscribe the SecOps team's email address to the SNS topic. Deploy a conformance pack that uses the s3-bucket-
level-public-access-prohibited AWS Config managed rule in each account and uses an AWS Systems Manager
document to publish an event to the SNS course to notify the SecOps team.
D. Turn on Amazon Inspector across the organization. In the Amazon Inspector delegated administrator account, create
an SNS topic. Subscribe the SecOps teamâsemail address to the SNS topic. In the same account, create an Amazon

As much as I love my laptop and its portability, sometimes I need to have my thoughts on paper to truly organize them. I enjoy the feel of a notebook, but the prospect of carrying around a stack of notebooks has lost its appeal since my college days. Thankfully, you no longer need to worry about hauling what feels like a library of papers around with you—not since E Ink tablets have come to market.

Right now, the two major tablets that you may have come across are The Remarkable 2 and the Amazon Kindle Scribe. Both allow you to digitize your notes for classes or organizing your thoughts ahead of a work day. So, which one is best for your needs? Here are the major differences on design, performance and more.

Remarkable 2 Tablet Vs. Amazon Kindle Scribe: Design

Only One Offers A Backlight

If there is one major design difference between the two, it’s the backlight. Currently, the Remarkable 2 Tablet doesn’t provide any kind of backlight. Meanwhile, I found the Amazon Kindle Scribe’s backlight to be handy when I needed to work on planes and after sunset. That’s not to say that you can’t get your work done in a darkened area with the Remarkable, but you’ll want to make sure you have an accompanying light to see your notes.

Both offer a similarly-sized E Ink screen that feels like you’re writing on paper with the stylus, but the writing tool itself is where more differences appear. The Remarkable’s writing pen (called the Marker) doesn’t require a battery. In other words, until the battery on the tablet dies, you can write to your heart’s content. You have the option to upgrade to the Marker Plus, which has a built-in eraser. Like the Scribe’s stylus, the Remarkable’s also comes with extra pen nibs to replace your worn-out ones, and you can order more directly from Remarkable’s website.

The Amazon Kindle Scribe comes with a base model pen, or for an extra $60 you can upgrade to the Premium Pen. If you’re okay with using the tablet interface to swap between the eraser and the pen tip, the basic Scribe pen is fine. But the Premium Pen has a feature that the Remarkable’s doesn’t incorporate; namely, the Shortcut Button. It’s as exactly as it sounds—you’ll get a shortcut button located on the pen near your grip. You can program this button to swap between pen “tips,” including a highlighter and an eraser or deprogram it entirely.

Remarkable 2 Tablet Vs. Amazon Kindle Scribe: Performance

With each tablet, you’ll get a vast array of different functions, but ultimately, it’s going to come down to how you want to use your digital E Ink tablet. Let’s break it down.

Only The Kindle Scribe Supports DRM EPUB E-books

The Remarkable tablet is solely an organization tool and note-taking device. If you’re looking for e-books to take with you on the go, you won’t find them on this device. You can get some e-books that are DRM-free, but most Kindle e-books have DRM (digital rights management) protection, so you’re not going to be able to read on your tablet.

The same goes for articles on the Remarkable. Because it’s designed to be a distraction-free note-taking experience, don’t expect to read any Forbes articles on the device. The only workaround to read them is to save them and upload them as PDFs. That alone is great for business professionals or students who want to save articles for research purposes, but I found it’s time consuming for most daily reading.

If you’re seeking to read the internet on an e-reader, you’re not going to find the Scribe’s web browser much more useful. After testing the Scribe for a couple weeks, I never got the browser to work. You can invest in a full-on E Ink web browsing experience by skipping both the Remarkable and the Scribe entirely and checking out the Onyx Boox Tab C Ultra.

But for studying e-books, that’s where the Scribe excels. Because it’s already integrated into its software, you can read all of your e-books on the Scribe with just a tap or two. Like the Kindle Paperwhite, you can adjust the font size, style and more from the screen. Essentially, the Scribe is a notebook that comes with all of the Paperwhite features built-in.

However, as a reader, I personally prefer the Paperwhite’s size compared to the bulk of the Scribe. I saw the appeal of taking a 2-in-1 on the go. For college students, the Scribe is especially useful for this combination since it offers sticky notes on the e-book pages.

Get More Integrations With The Remarkable 2

As a smart notebook, the Remarkable offers multiple integration selections, including Google Drive, Microsoft Onedrive and Dropbox. I also felt that setting up my Google Drive account was easy and intuitive; and, once I set up my Google Drive integration, I could pull up any document from my Google Drive for signing. The Remarkable provides a more robust integration for those that need to work across multiple systems and devices.

One of the biggest changes to the Remarkable is that for all the integrations and features, you’ll need to pay for the Connect subscription. At the time of writing, when you buy the tablet, you’ll get a 1-year free trial; after that expires, you’ll need to pay $3 per month, or $36 per year.

That’s not to say the Scribe doesn’t require any subscriptions. While it comes with Microsoft Onedrive integration, you need a subscription to work with Word documents. You can directly send Word documents straight to your Kindle Scribe, making it a great way to edit and mark up documents on the go. The catch is that to do this, you’ll need to pay for that Microsoft Word subscription. At the time of writing, a personal subscription costs $70 per year.

The Scribe doesn’t have Google Drive or Dropbox integrations, but you can send your notes straight to your email inbox with a few taps. It also works with other recipients’ inboxes, too. Plus, the Scribe allows you to convert to text if you’re in a pinch.

Remarkable 2 Tablet Vs. Amazon Kindle Scribe: Verdict

Depends On Your Needs

There’s no clear winner on which is the better of the two E Ink tablet devices. The best one for you depends on how you intend to use your E Ink note-taking tablet.

If you’re seeking a no-frills, distraction-free tablet that works solely as a digital notebook, you should consider opting for the Remarkable 2 tablet. You won’t get ebooks or web browsing, but you’ll get a solid way to jot down and organize your notes. Personally, this is the device I’ve used since 2021, and it’s one that I intend to use in the future when I want or need to focus because it removes browsing and notifications. If you’re a business professional who needs to keep tabs or sign and send contracts, this is the tablet you should consider.

People who want e-books and Kindle’s integrated Sticky Notes, should take a look at the Kindle Scribe, particularly students. Being able to take notes and work in darker environments with the adjustable backlight is ideal for those late-night brainstorm or study sessions. Plus, while you won’t get full Onedrive integrations, you’ll be able to share notes with friends via email. It just may come at the expense of having distractions like books and some web browsing.

Did The Grand Theft Auto Hacker Do It With An Amazon Fire Stick While Under Police Custody?

An 18-year-old hacker, Arion Kurtaj, a key member of the international cyber-criminal gang Lapsus$, has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order after leaking clips of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). The sentencing, delivered at Southwark Crown Court, sheds light on the extent of the gang’s audacious attacks on tech giants, including Uber, Nvidia, and Rockstar Games, which collectively cost the affected companies nearly $10 million.

Kurtaj, who hails from Oxford and is diagnosed with autism, was deemed unfit to stand trial due to the severity of his condition. The court heard that despite being under police protection at a Travelodge hotel, he managed to breach Rockstar Games, the developers behind GTA, using unconventional methods.

While on bail for hacking Nvidia and BT/EE, Kurtaj reportedly continued his cyber activities. Using an Amazon Fire TV Stick, he allegedly mirrored his smartphone’s display to the hotel TV, transforming it into a makeshift monitor. Connecting a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to his smartphone, he exploited the device’s “desktop mode” (DeX) capabilities, essentially turning it into a Linux computer. The Fire TV Stick, in this context, acted as a wireless HDMI cable via Miracast.

Kurtaj’s actions resulted in the theft of 90 clips of the unreleased GTA 6, which he later posted, along with the source code, on a forum under the username “TeaPotUberHacker.” The hack reportedly cost Rockstar Games $5 million to recover from, in addition to thousands of hours of staff time.

In sentencing hearings, Kurtaj’s defense argued that the success of the GTA 6 trailer, released earlier this month and amassing 128 million views on YouTube in just four days, indicated minimal harm caused by the hack. However, the judge emphasized the real victims and harm caused by Kurtaj’s multiple cyberattacks, not only on corporations, but also on individuals.

The trial also saw another Lapsus$ member, a 17-year-old, found guilty. This individual, who worked alongside Kurtaj, was sentenced to an 18-month-long Youth Rehabilitation Order, inclusive of intense supervision and a ban on using VPNs online. The gang, described in court as “digital bandits,” shocked the cybersecurity world with their con-man like tricks and taunting messages on the social network app Telegram.

An observer, challenging the narrative of Kurtaj’s hacking prowess, claimed that the teenager was an avowed unrepentant scammer and questioned the impressive nature of his methods. The observer clarified that Kurtaj likely mirrored his smartphone’s display to the TV using the Fire TV Stick, employing standard features rather than sophisticated hacking techniques.

As the first convictions of Lapsus$ members, the trial raises questions about the extent of the group’s activities, with suggestions that other members remain at large. A US cyber-authorities report highlighted the group’s ability to infiltrate well-defended organizations, emphasizing the ease with which juvenile members could compromise cybersecurity.

The GTA 6 hacker’s sentencing, marked by an indeterminate hospital order, reflects the court’s recognition of Kurtaj’s high risk to the public due to his skills and continued desire to commit cybercrime.

Amazon Return Policy: Tips and Tricks for Hassle-Free Returns This Holiday Season

Amazon is known for its generous free returns, so earlier this year, when the online retailer announced a new $1 fee for returning packages to UPS when another return location is closer, customers panic more fees might be coming. Amazon responded immediately with a blog post explaining all the ways to return Amazon items for free.

For the most part, Amazon still makes free returns super simple. All you need to do is grab everything you want to send back, then head to the nearest drop-off location. Don't fret if you don't have the box your items came in: You can still bring your items to one of these locations to be packed up and shipped for free.

If you have all the shipping supplies you need but want the convenience of having your package picked up, you can do that, too. Here are all the ways you can return your unwanted Amazon purchases. For more, here are four ways to ship your packages from home.

Return your package to Kohl's

If you live near a Kohl's store, Amazon returns are simple. When you start the return process with Amazon, select Kohl's Dropoff as your preferred option. Amazon will send you a QR code that you'll need to bring when you head to the store (you can also show a picture of the QR code on your phone).

Once you deliver the Kohl's employee your return and show them the QR code, they'll pack, label and ship your items for free. Even better? Sometimes the store will deliver you Kohl's coupons when you make your returns there.

Whole Foods Market also accepts Amazon returns

You can also select Whole Foods Market as the drop-off location for your Amazon return. Note that if your preferred store isn't listed, your item or location may not be eligible. Also, only select stores offer no-box returns.

Once you've made your selection, Amazon will email you a QR code for a Whole Foods employee to scan. Grab that and the items you need to return, and head to either the Whole Foods customer service desk or return kiosk. An employee will take it from there and send off your package.

Drop your items at The UPS Store

You can also take your returns to The UPS Store. When selecting the method for returning your Amazon purchase, choose The UPS Store Dropoff. You don't need to have your items boxed or labeled. Instead, The UPS Store will pack, label and ship your return for free. UPS will email you a return shipping code ahead of time that you'll need to show to an employee. Just note that Amazon may charge a $1 fee if you choose UPS but another drop-off location is closer.

Have UPS pick up your package

If your items are eligible for UPS pickup, you won't even have to leave your house. When you start the return process on Amazon, follow the return prompts and select UPS Pick-up.

In this case, you'll need to package the items you're returning. However, UPS will provide the return label. UPS will pick up your package on the next business day, but you or another adult must be present.

An adult needs to be present when UPS picks up your package.

Head to a physical Amazon store

If you live near an Amazon store -- Amazon Fresh or Amazon Go -- you can drop off your return there. (Note that with Amazon closing some of its physical stores, finding a location may be more challenging.) On Amazon, select Amazon Store Dropoff. If the item can't be returned to an Amazon store, you'll get other return options.

Amazon will send you a QR code to show to an employee at the Amazon store. You'll need to bring the items in their original manufacturer's packaging. And if you return items to Amazon Fresh Pickup or an Amazon Hub Locker location, you'll need to bring them in a box or box them up using the materials provided.

What about DoorDash?

DoorDash is testing a feature that will let you request a Dasher who can pick up your items and drop them off at one of the above locations. However, your items must already be packaged and sealed with the prepaid return label attached. The company hasn't said when this option will be widely available. Right now, it's only available in select areas.

There's a reason for the hype surrounding Apple AirPods Pro — many reasons, in fact. For starters, they offer rich, crisp sound and superior noise cancellation, allowing you to enjoy music, podcasts, audiobooks and more without outside commotion getting in the way. This model also allows you to control the volume simply by swiping the stem, and you'll even receive four pairs of silicone tips in different sizes for customized comfort.

"I tried my cousin's AirPods and couldn’t believe the sound quality," shared one customer. "I decided to purchase the AirPods Pro because I wanted the controls on the earpiece itself. I can skip or go back on songs, adjust volume, start or stop music, and turn on or off the noise-cancellation option, all from the AirPod, which is super convenient — I don’t have to keep getting out my phone. The noise is so blacked out that it’s freaky. I had my siblings try it, and their faces were in shock when they realized they couldn’t hear their kids yelling. Purchase these! No regrets."

Never lose your luggage, purse — anything, really — again. Just toss one of these smart tags inside the item you want to track and you'll be alerted of its whereabouts through your phone. And this trio is down to the lowest price we've ever seen — just $15 a pop.

"The Tile is so easy to set up and takes just a few minutes," wrote one fan. "My mother-in-law has Alzheimer's and frequently misplaces her purse. We spent hours one night trying to find where she put it and finally found it hidden in the bathroom behind the towels. After that, we bought the Tile and put it on her purse and we have had no more issues trying to find it. My husband just looks it up on his phone and rings the Tile, which will send a little musical alarm to the Tile on her purse and we are able to find it easily. It will also show you on a map the location of the item if you are not within hearing distance of the alarm. The battery lasts a long time. In fact, the last Tile we had lasted almost two years."
