The color of our variant is Black and they ship in a case that is matte light gray on the outside and dark gray on the inside. The earphones are actually Black, but their surface is reflective, meaning the color is not that prominent.

The case has a LED light on the outside to indicate the battery capacity, with three modes – Green for over 75%, Yellow between 25% and 75%, and Red below 25%. There is a button on the right-hand side for pairing, and the buds sit inside.

The Huawei FreeClip practically has no competition on the market, as it aims to establish its own category. It is a stylish, innovative solution, but not directly comparable to any other TWS set. Fit is different and looks are subjective.

The Specs

The P9 smartphone works together with the Huawei VR as its interface and processor pretty much the same way the Samsung Gear VR does it. It also has a trackpad on one side, giving the user access to a number of different functions and allowing the use of the phone even while it's in the headset.

The headset operates with the usual 20ms low latency and 95° field-of-view (the Samsung Gear VR offers 96°) and an anti-blue light filter.

However, its display is limited by the P9's 1080p screen, which isn't much when it comes to the current devices out in the market. But unlike the Samsung Gear VR, this product is reportedly the first to incorporate 360-degree sound field (as long as it's running the right content, that is).

Huawei, UNESCO, and Thai Ministry Drive Green Education

Huawei, UNESCO, and Thailand's Ministry of Education are launching the Green Education Initiative to educate and empower youth and communities on climate action, with a focus on green schools, skills, and communities.

Huawei and UNESCO and Ministry of Education announced their strategic partnership on the Green Education Initiative, which is designed to educate young people and communities nationwide on the importance of climate action and empower them to take action.

The initiative covers three areas:

  • Green Schools: promoting water security, clean energy, biomass production, and waste management in educational institutions.
  • Green Skills: developing skills among students, educators, and communities to drive environmental responsibility and sustainability.
  • Green Communities: engaging with local communities to create awareness and promote green practices beyond schools.

Huawei, under its TECH4ALL initiative, and UNESCO plan to develop green programs and solutions covering these three areas in partnership with Thailand’s Ministry of Education. Projects include digital power technologies for schools, green energy training for students, and a digital bus to provide training in digital literacy and climate action with a focus on rural and remote areas throughout Thailand.

UNESCO defines ‘greening’ as pursuing the knowledge and practices that are more ecologically responsible and promote the sustainable use of natural resources for current and future generations.

“The SDGs are at a midpoint, and there is still much work that needs to be done. No one can do this alone, including the United Nations,” said Kirimoke Drollett, Chief of Administration of the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, at the launch event in Nakhon Nayok Province. “It is essential that we take urgent and accelerated action to put the SDGs back on track, and our partnership will speed up the efforts for climate action through green education. UNESCO is proud to support Thailand in greening and securing a bright future for all.”

Thailand has announced a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality roadmap by 2050. To achieve these goals, solar power must be boosted as a crucial energy source. In Thailand, solar power capacity currently stands at 2,633 megawatts and is expected to reach 14,864 megawatts by 2037.

The Green Education Initiative signifies a shared commitment to empower young people, communities, and other stakeholders to take an active role in climate action. The Department of Learning Encouragement (DOLE) under Thailand’s Ministry of Education will support lifelong learning for people of all ages and ensure the initiative reaches communities that need it the most.

Mr Chaipat Panwatanasakul (Ed.D.), Expert on Curriculum Development and Division Director of Strategy and Planning, DOLE, said: “I am delighted and proud to work together with UNESCO and Huawei Thailand to drive forward Green Education and Schools in Thailand. This initiative will help enable more digital inclusiveness for youth and the public in every corner of Thailand by utilising the digital bus to enhance education on technology, Improve our quality of life, and tackle global warming. Mixed reality (MR) is having a bit of a moment. Technologies like virtual and augmented reality may be the most familiar to consumers, featuring in headlines, expos and mass media, but mixed reality is also gaining ground, albeit in a more subtle way. You see, it is not typically used for flashy things like games and entertainment, but instead focuses on helping enterprises Improve their business processes.

How do enterprises leverage MR?

As it has happened with other immersive technologies, mixed reality has been applied by enterprises in many unique ways, influenced by each company’s strategy and goals. However, simulated training is one common use, and we want to examine how well it works for training software development. One of the major focuses of my company is developing immersive solutions, and our experience has shown that there is strong demand for immersive training solutions, including in the field of mixed reality.

What makes mixed reality unique?

As an immersive technology, MR sits somewhere between augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). You probably know that AR relies on a camera and screen (usually on a mobile phone) to capture users’ surroundings and project digital elements in relevant spots. In contrast, virtual reality presents a complete digital world via a headset.

Like VR, MR utilizes a headset that takes up the users’ entire field of view, but the world they see isn’t necessarily 100% digital. Mixed reality gives users a useful combination of the real and the digital, allowing them to interact with virtual environments and objects with their hands.

What industries are using MR?

MR is still considered a burgeoning technology, so it doesn’t quite have the reach or the market size of AR/VR. Still, it has made a name for itself in multiple industries, including military, aviation, manufacturing and healthcare. The extraordinary level of trust in the technology is exemplified by the U.S. military training service people for life-and-death situations with it, and surgeons using it for cooperation during life-saving procedures.

Five Ways MR Boosts Training Development

When you set out to create training solutions, you don’t just choose a target platform based on its technical specs and features — you also consider how difficult it will be to create software for it and how well it can serve your business interests. Fortunately, mixed reality headsets provide multiple benefits that make them a good choice for training:

1. Industry-tailored hardware: Makers of MR hardware know who their target customers are (enterprises) and thus design their products with business utilization in mind. This helps enterprises quickly make use of hardware without needing to first figure out how to adapt it to the current gear their employees wear. For example, one popular MR headset — the Microsoft Hololens 2 — comes in two tailored variants: one for construction sites and an industrial version for protective suits and hazardous locations.

4. The ability to turn any location into a training ground: Most MR headsets are wireless and work with the help of a battery pack. Thus, they can be taken and used in any area, be it a construction site, factory floor, operation room or another location. For example, Mercedes Benz is saving their technicians’ time and money by shipping MR devices to dealerships, and then helping local engineers make repairs that fall outside their knowledge. Even with so many devices deployed to numerous locations, it’s usually possible to control them through associated services offered with the hardware.

5. Great support and infrastructure: Developing for MR devices is a relatively comfortable experience because headset providers take care to make sure your business needs are met and that you have the documentation and tools needed to develop your application and test it out. Some companies even offer developer editions of their MR products, which makes it easier to experiment, build functionality and test new software.

HEC, Huawei to organize eight day online training in ICT for Pak students

The Higher Education Commission and Huawei Technologies Pakistan to organize an eight-day long online training for 30 to 40 outstanding Pakistani students in the field of ICT tentatively from 26th of this month.

HEC and Huawei, in that regard, are inviting applications from potential Pakistani undergraduate students under the “Huawei Seeds for the Future Programme 2022”.

According to the Assistant Director Learning Opportunities Abroad Higher Education Commission Pakistan, 130 students were selected from varsities across Pakistan by HEC and 55 of them were sent by Huawei to China for two weeks training on culture and advance ICT skills.

HEC Official informed that the deadline to apply for this program is 18th of this month.

The selected students will be able to obtain valuable cutting-edge ICT knowledge (5G, Cloud, AI developed by Huawei's Headquarters and experience a cross-cultural communication virtually.

Apple Vision Pro Mixed Reality Headset Said to Hit Store Shelves by Late January or Early February 2024: Kuo

After announcing its brand-new Vision Pro mixed reality headset, we have yet to hear from Apple about a proper release date. At its announcement that took place during Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference 2023 (WWDC 2023) event, Apple showcased the product, announced a launch price of $3,499 but did not seem confident enough to deliver out a proper release date like many of its other products. Apple simply left us with an ‘early next year', which left a lot of fans wondering whether such a product would actually arrive on time or get delayed.

However, a more recent report had shed light on the topic, revealing that Apple's Vision Pro headset is seeing ramped up production in China. The same report claimed that units would be ready by as soon as January and these would be ready to ship by February. Now, a more latest research note by noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, states that Apple's mixed reality headset would be available for purchase by February.

In his research note, Kuo among other details, mentions that the Vision Pro headset would be Apple's “most important product of 2024”. He goes on to state that Apple is expected to ship as many as 5,00,000 units in 2024. These units are currently in mass production and they will begin mass shipping by the first week of January 2024, as per Kuo.

As for the release date that Apple is yet to confirm or reveal, Kuo estimates that the Vision Pro will reach stores by late January or early February. Indeed, this is a smaller window than the vague one Apple provided. While production seems to be on track, Apple is also said to be training its store employees on how to operate and demo its new Vision Pro headset.

The Apple Vision Pro is said to be available to US customers in the first wave, followed by a wider release in more countries later. Given that it is one of Apple's most expensive devices yet, the ‘spatial computer' basically lets users interact with a virtual UI that is laid over the real world, which is physically in front of them. The device runs visionOS, which can control a user's eyes, hands, and voice and an ultra-high-resolution dual display system. The headset is intended for use not just for entertainment but also for work. When available, the Vision Pro is expected to pack in its own App Store that should hopefully come loaded with plenty of apps for users to try out. The headset can be plugged into a power source or can be used with an external battery pack for a more untethered experience, which is said to power the headset for up to 2 hours.
