Oracle Corp has started to lay off employees in the United States according to various reports. The report also said layoffs in Canada, India and parts of Europe were expected in the coming weeks and months.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the job cuts principally hit staff at Oracle’s advertising and customer experience group, the people said. The group sells services to help clients analyze data about their customers and target advertising to those customers.

Oracle’s job cuts come as the company is putting increased emphasis on cloud healthcare services after recently receiving regulatory approval for its $28.3 billion deal for electronic-medical-records company Cerner Corp. They are hitting a unit that has become less central to the company at a time the digital ad market also is in turmoil.

The company had about 143,000 full-time employees as of May 31, according to its latest annual report.

Menawhile, Bloomberg reported that some workers were told that their positions had been eliminated, according to four people with direct knowledge of the matter. Junior sales employees as well as a division sales director were among those let go, according to one former worker who lost their job and asked not to be named to avoid professional repercussions. Rumors of pending cuts had swirled through the division in exact weeks, but management said the positions were safe, one former employee said.

The customer experience division provides analytics and advertising services. It has long lagged behind the growth of the rest of the Austin, Texas-based software company. During an event last year, Executive Vice President Douglas Kehring said the unit had “historically been probably a little more disappointing than it should have been."

The company “decided to reorganize" the customer experience group “and move on," a former senior manager of sales engineering, whose position was cut, wrote on LinkedIn. In a separate post, another fired manager cited the restructuring for the job reductions. Some marketing positions were also cut, according to LinkedIn posts by a former senior manager and group vice president.

Killexams : Oracle looks to save $1bn with workforce cuts

Oracle has reportedly begun cutting jobs within its marketing and customer experience divisions as it looks to reduce its analytics and advertising operations.

On Monday some employees had already been told their position had been eliminated, according to Bloomberg sources.

The cuts included junior sales staff and directors of sales divisions, according to the sources, which also suggested that rumours of the pending layoffs had been circulating throughout the business for months. Although this was previously dismissed by management, according to the sources.

Similarly, the customer experience division, which provides analytics and advertising, is being reorganised with senior sales managers being moved on. Much of this has been reported on LinkedIn by the employees themselves.

The reasons behind the cuts are thought to be related to the division's poor performance. Its growth has reportedly lagged behind the rest of the company's services and during an event last year, executive VP Douglas Kehring said the unit had "historically been probably a little more disappointing than it should have been."

Senior management believes the cuts will help the company to make a saving of around $1 billion by eliminating thousands of roles. These layoffs will disproportionately impact workers in the US and Europe with more seen in the former.

Oracle didn't respond to requests for comment, though the reports of the jobs cuts have come amid an economic downturn that is seemingly affecting the whole technology industry. Both Google and Microsoft have confirmed they are either slowing the pace or halting recruitment plans, while smaller tech companies, such as Klarna have had to cut staff

Job cuts at Oracle have also come as the cloud giant looks to boost its capabilities within the health care sector. The firm completed a $28.3 billion purchase of digital medical records provider Cerner, earlier in the year. The acquisition would allow Oracle to enter an industry that's seemingly ripe for digital transformation.

Killexams : Oracle Betting on its Growing Partner Ecosystem to Drive Cloud Momentum in India

At the exact Oracle India Partner Kickoff 2022, Oracle announced its renewed strategy to work more closely with its partners and help accelerate digitisation for its 15,000 customers in the country. Indian organisations across public and private sectors, are looking for technology partners that can help them grow; meet rising industry and compliance mandates related to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG); support India’s digital banking revolution and lastly, be an active participant in all major transformations across industries: public sector; banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI); manufacturing; professional services (Information Technology/Information Technology Enabled Services) and more.

Shailender Kumar, senior vice president and regional managing director, Oracle India and NeSuite JAPAC said, “Oracle India is on a massive growth drive. With our unmatched portfolio of cloud solutions across technology and applications, along with our partners - our customers have the choice they need, to support their business growth and digital evolution. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Software as a Service (SaaS) are driving some of India’s milestone projects and the opportunity to do more is immense. Cognizant, National Stock Exchange, Wipro, Punjab Urban Development Authority, Air Asia, Federal Bank, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank and many more companies trust Oracle Cloud to power their businesses.”

Han Chung Heng, senior vice president – hybrid cloud system and alliances & channels, Oracle Asia Pacific and Japan said, “Oracle’s partner strategy is based on four principles of customer first, joint go-to-market (GTM), skills development and a trusted partnership. With Oracle Cloud, partners have tremendous opportunity to fulfil customer demands and also grow their own businesses. We continue to enable our partners and in Asia Pacific, the year-on-year growth in certification was 57 percent in our last fiscal year. Many partners like Wipro and PwC are using Oracle for their own business needs. This year we will be laying strong emphasis on the industry GTM focusing on public sector, manufacturing, edtech, fintech and will also be supporting multi-cloud customer environments and ESG initiatives.”

Why partner with Oracle

Oracle offers a variety of incentives for partners to support customers. Some of these include:

Oracle Support Rewards: This new program helps reduce support bill for partners and customers. Partners can earn $0.25 to $0.33 in rewards for every $1 spent on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure consumption. These rewards can be applied to reduce their tech software license support bill to a great extent.

Oracle Cloud Lift Services: Through this, partners and customers are provided guidance from cloud engineers on planning, architecting, prototyping and managing cloud migrations. This way they can move critical workloads in weeks, or even days, instead of months.

Oracle Partner Network (OPN) Service Delivery Incentives: When partners help customers to successfully move their workload to OCI, they get access to a comprehensive suite of incentives that reward partners when they help customers to buy and adopt, implement and deploy; and then manage and grow their OCI footprint.

Oracle Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Annual Aggregate Buying Model: This applies to CSP expertise partners of Oracle, who can also enjoy aggregated buying of OCI across the entire tenancy that they manage to earn tiered discounts on OCI.

“Oracle has been a pioneer in enterprise digital transformation for decades and its cloud platform — OCI will lead us to a true data economy. As an exclusive Oracle Cloud partner with a strong pool of Oracle certified experts, we are looking forward to working with Oracle and helping enterprises and public offices, realize their cloud journey smoothly with OCI,” said Satyendra Kumar, managing director, Infolob Solutions India Pvt. Ltd.

Oracle industry partnerships deliver customers the best choice

Oracle and Microsoft have shown they’re committed to making multicloud environments work for their customers. Under a strategic cloud interconnect partnership, the two companies are making it easy for their joint customers in countries worldwide, to connect their Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, such as Autonomous Database, to their Microsoft Azure services, such as analytics and AI. By enabling customers to run one part of a workload within OCI and another part of the same workload within Azure—incorporating unified identity and access management as well as a joint customer support model—the partnership delivers a best-of-both-clouds experience

Oracle and VMware are embracing hybrid cloud by making it easy for customers to deploy their VMware-based virtual machines on OCI. Oracle Cloud VMware Solution lets customers leave some portion of their VMware estate on premises and burst other parts to the Oracle Cloud. And they can do so without having to modify their people’s skills or their company’s software tools and processes. This means customers can get to hybrid cloud in a matter of hours without any major architectural changes and the associated risks.

Killexams : Former Coarsegold Resident Turns Roadblocks Into Triumph

Introduction by Shannon Grissom.

Through the years, I have worked on a series of whimsical paintings inspired by my late mother and her childhood sock monkey. From the beginning, I had an oracle card deck in mind for the body of work and created each piece with a state of being in mind.

Image of Shannon Grissom.

Shannon Grissom.

I worked on the series for 20 years. Although the sock monkey series was a great way to work through the grief of my mom’s passing, I never worked on the deck. It remained buried on my “Me and My Big Ideas” list. (Yep. I’m a lister, and that’s the real title of the list.)

In early March of 2020, I was selected for a one-woman show at Circle Gallery in Madera. Now there aren’t too many galleries that have the space to accommodate my entire body of Sock monkey work. First, the paintings are large, and second, there are so many of them! Circle Gallery in Madera was the perfect venue. It is spacious, and I love the entire staff there.

Image of the Circle Gallery.

Circle Gallery in Madera.

The show was hung, invitations were sent out, and the pandemic lockdown happened. The gallery was closed, and there sat my artwork, all alone.

Well, not quite alone. Executive Director Jim Kocher continued to work at the gallery through the pandemic. He said my whimsical sock monkey art lifted his spirits.

After a few months, some restrictions were lifted, and I returned to the gallery and brought my artwork home.

As business began to open, another gallery asked to feature my work. Once again, the show was hung. Unfortunately, the pandemic restrictions were in place soon after, and the gallery was closed.

Image of Sock Monkey Oracle Cards cover. When things happen once, I don’t always notice the significance. But twice, now you have my attention. I took it as a significant course correction from the Universe. I was not in the flow, and something had to change. So, I pulled out my “Me and My Big Ideas List” and immediately homed in on the Sock Monkey Oracle card project. I knew it was time to finish the deck.

I worked on the graphic design for the cards. As I thought about writing the text, a little voice said, “Who am I to write an oracle card deck?”
I heard in my mind’s ear, “It’s not coming from you. It will be channeled.”

So, I meditated and asked for help, and the text for the Sock Monkey Oracle tumbled out in just under a month.

About the Sock Monkey Oracle Card Deck

The sock monkey, a largely popularized vintage icon, has brought joy and love to homes for decades.

Dating as far back as the 1930s—at the height of the Great Depression—sock monkeys became most known for their vibrant red mouth fashioned out of Rockford Red Heel socks. At a time of severe economic distress, these unique stuffed toys were gifted to families and children as notions of hope, happiness, and…hugs!

Image of the Sock Monkey Oracle box.Today, Shannon Grissom continues this long-lived tradition with the Sock Monkey Oracle card deck. Bridging the gap in history as a toy made for children, the card deck proves sock monkeys can infuse your life with joy at any age.

Discover your playful energy, embrace the nostalgia, and open up to love with 46 passion-filled readings and cards, including:

• Tee Time as a reminder to just have fun.
• Unwind as a reminder to relax and take self-care.
• Parenting as a reminder to persevere when things get a bit messy, and so many more!

About Shannon Grissom

Shannon Grissom didn’t discover painting until she was 33, but once she discovered this hidden passion, she was hooked and driven. By 1999, Shannon was able to leave her day job and began to create art as a full-time business.

Image of "Monkey Made of Sockies" book cover. At 46, Shannon self-published her children’s book Monkey Made of Sockies, along with a line of licensed merchandise, including a coloring book and the popular Monkey Made of Sockies golf club headcovers that have been carried on tour by several Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) pros.

Shannon is an award-winning artist, television producer/host, author, and songwriter, and she just launched an online creativity school called Painterly. Learn more about her work with sock monkeys at
